Speaking of Margins
When a tooth has been prepared to receive a crown we would expect the margins to be precise and clear. This allows for a good impression (mould) to be made and this in turn helps the lab fabricate a good fit for the crown that rests on the tooth alone, this ensures good gum health for years to come.
The purple looking string is a gingival retraction cord that pushes the gum away temporarily so the impression material may flow perfectly in the marginal areas.
